photoblog image Sheep Saturday

Sheep Saturday

Part of a flock of Torddu Badger-faced Welsh Mountain sheep. Not something to be expected on a farm around 8 miles west of Southampton.

We were on our Friday bike ride last week and just as approached the farm, the lady with the bucket appeared followed very closely behind by around 100 sheep; they were being moved to a different field. I'm not sure what the sheep thought of our bikes.

The black horse seems to want to play at being a sheepdog, Alan.
Alan: I think it may have been startled by the sheep who just came charging out of the field as soon as the bucket was rattled. The lady was at the point of no return just as we approached and unable to stop the stampeded.

Jolie troupe, le cheval a l'air de vouloir aller avec eux.

I don't think I've ever seen this variety of sheep before. Why go all the way to those remote rocky hells north of Scotchland when you have this in the lee of lovely Scumsville sur mer!?
Alan: Well, you know that I go to Jockland for their fine weather conditions; whist the south is being deluged, I'm basking in sunny weather with temperatures of a sweltering 11- 15 deg; melting tar and buckled rails everywhere.

I don't think I've ever seen this breed of sheep before. What a surprise for you and for the sheep!

Nicely identified, Alan!
I like the feisty steed.
I loke this Alan, put the lady, the sheep and horse, and the bucket and it tells a story, judges love pictures that tell a story!
Cute with their little tags on...
I am not sure sheep do much thinking about anything Alan
First time I've seen a horse acting as sheep dog!
