Sheep Saturday

My name in print with an image of my favourite breed of sheep, the Herdwick. Together with around 150 or so other people, I've supported the production of a book entitled "Capture Lakeland", essentially a book of photos from the Lake District National Park taken by the photographer James Bell

With an eye hopefully still looking way into the far distance, there will come a time when I won't be able to visit the Lake District and see it for myself so I've got a few books of photos from the Park to enjoy in my very old age.

I was attracted to supporting this particualr book based on the photos I had seen on the web site and the offer of a free calendar and two free signed prints for pre-production orders of the book, together with a list of the supporters in the book.

He says in an email:

"Ok I am totally blown away by your kind support, words and generally how good you've made me feel about my new book. As some of you maybe aware I have been struggling with M.E. for the last 4 years which has been the hardest challenge of my life, dealing with Anxiety and Depression and longing for my old life back where I had energy and I was mentally able to do the things that made me tick and feel part of the world.

Creating this book was a selfish and personal journey to create something worthwhile for myself. It's not about money, it's about feeling I have a place in the world and things I'm doing are worthwhile.

The level of support I've received with the production of my book is actually quite emotional for me. For the times I can't leave the house for weeks on end due to having no energy. This process and engaging with you guys who are equally as excited as me has been the most positive thing to happen to me for years.

As way of thanks, as well as giving away two free prints and yours or a friends name in the book I'm now giving everyone who bought a book a free 2018 Lake District Calendar worth £14. Now in its 5th year this is my best Calendar yet with a new design and 13 new images.

So thank you. It means more to me than you know."

Good for you, Alan - the author sounds a really nice fellow, struggling so hard against his illness. You must have been so pleased that the frontispiece was a Herdy

Good for you, and good for him too, trying to get his mojo back..
We struggle sometimes to appreciate what efforts some have to make to achieve things, how lovely to receive this reply from him, thanks for sharing.
Very well done Alan, you have done a very worthy act and his reply is full of his appreciation for your support.
Can you tell me what M.E. is.
