No shortage of 'dosh' here, Alan...
Alan: Like many cities, Southampton has a wide spread of people between the haves and the have nots.
That's certainly a lovely vessel. Seems a bit crowded in there...
Alan: This was one of the first docks when Southampton was developed as a port centuries ago. it was somewhere around here that we used have car ferries going to France which was probably the last of the commercial use of the docks in the early 1970s. Thanks, Elizabeth.
Un beau yacht mais je préfère les voiliers.
Alan: Oh really? No, this one has a big engine, a decent galley and probably some nice bedrooms smile

This looks to be superior Ocean Village, a location for those with money to burn

Having said that, I rather admire the fine looking craft featured..
Alan: After not going to the cinema for around 40 years, I'm now going around once a monthand my favoured cinema is just behind where I was stood for this. It's a fine place to retreat from the oppressive heat of an English summer whilst enjoying a cup of tea, a biscuit and film for £6.20.

Are we in Scumsville?
Alan: Yes, this is a better part of Scumsville-sur-Mer. This was one of the first docks when Southampton was developed as a port centuries ago. it was somewhere around here that we used to have car ferries going to France which was probably the last of the commercial uses of the docks in the early 1970s. The building on the left is a five star hotel and just behind my location is my favoured cinema. Thanks, Philine!
As the sign say, "why go anywhere else?" But we know you will, Alan!
Alan: All out of my price range, Ginnie. If I was going to move it would be to Yorkshire.

I wouldn't recognise Southampton today, Alan
Alan: Its not the most appealing of cities I have to say although there are some big changes underway in the city to open up more of the Old Walls. It still has far too many students here, though.

That are some serious yachts, Alan. I read your reply to Elizabeth.
Are those apartments on the left?
Alan: It's a five star hotel, Astrid, apparently built to look like a cruise ship. I think you need to have had a fair amount to drink and a vivid imagination, though smile

After the Brexit the car ferries to France should be used again to unburden the route Calais-Dover.
Alan: There was talk of using the M3 motorway as a lorry park if there are too many holdups at the local Channel ports! The car ferries moved to Portsmouth as it is a slightly shorter sea crossing to France than from Southampton. Thanks, Philine.
Je prefere les bateaux plus petits mais quand on peut s'offrir un tel bateau pourquoi pas?
Alan: I don't think I can afford either!
I like your new boat Alan.
Alan: Come on down; we're pop over to the Channel Islands for a bacon sandwich.

Yes, why go anywhere else Alan when you can all this?
Alan: Exactly!
I fine looking boat and I actually quite like the building in the background. Goodness knows what this cost, we have sat on Poole Quay with maureen's brother and looked over at the Sunseeker boats, they are amazing.
Alan: I've seen the Sunseeker year; I guess most of its output goes abroad.
That is what I would call a yacht!
Alan: I'd be quite happy with it, I think. Apparently what ever the coast of the yacht is, you need allow 10% of its price per year for running costs, mooring fees, staff costs, etc.
