A stroll around the village

After shopping in Coustellet market in the morning, we spend the rest of our first day exploring the village where we were staying. It seemed to be siesta time but luckily our local bar and cafe, the Cafe de France, remained open. We popped in for essential refreshment before heading back to our gite to get dinner going.

What a wonderful place- amazing no one else was around!
Alan: Southern Europeans gently shut up shop and take refuge from the strong afternoon sun and heat, probably also because of a "liquid lunch". smile I used to struggle in the afternoon at work sometimes and people knew to get me to make any important decisions before lunch smile

Yes, this is South- France as I love it, an enchanting medieval village! SCAD is present here, too.
Alan: Just one many beautiful old villages. Thanks, Philine!

I love the old feel of these buildings Alan.
Alan: All part of the charm.
This is the sort of France I've always felt I'd like to see.
Alan: I was very impressed with the whole area; lots of old villages like this.
It looks a lovely place, Alan. I remember everywhere shutting down in the afternoon in Italy,,whilst us 'mad dogs' marched around!
Alan: Yes; no wonder when the Europeans want our money when the "natives" give up working every afternoon. smile
Very rarely quiet like this I would think.
Alan: I think most afternoons are like this. A combination of the hot Mediterranean sun and a liquid lunch!
